This briefing session was held with the presence of Dr. Farajzadeh, the accreditation officer of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences. In this session Ms. Tania Azadi, the senior accreditation officer of the Secretariat expatiated the structure, activities and the processes of the Secretariat.

Ms. Azadi went on explaining that the very first step to commence the implementation of international accreditation is to fill out the application form of Accreditation Service for International Colleges (ASIC)’s accreditation form and added that the required supporting documents include a wide range of documents such as the already existing curriculums in the university, health/safety and sanitary declaration, fire precautions’ declaration and other supporting documents in all areas of operations of education, research, student affairs, international affairs and management development and resource planning.

Following this, Dr. Farajzadeh talked about Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences’ experience of accreditation including hospital, national and international accreditation. She also added that the mentioned university is experienced and accreditation is not new to the university. Therefore, this is what makes the implementation of international accreditation easier for Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences.

In the end, the attendees shared ideas about how to make a web-based accreditation information system in the secretariat.

It should be noted that the Secretariat of International Accreditation of Iranian Medical Universities received mission from the deputy for Education of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education in 2015 to facilitate the process of international accreditation in the volunteer medical universities in Iran.
