Internationalization of Higher Education Seminar (IHE Seminar) got started with the Recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by National Anthem and continued with the speech of Dr. Ali Jafarian, president of IHE seminar and the chancellor of Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) as the first speaker of this event. Making the opening remarks, he stated that this seminar is a good opportunity for scholars and experts of the field of internationalization of higher education to discuss, share and disseminate their knowledge to the audience.
The first day of IHE Seminar was led by Mobility/ Innovation panel in which speakers from Iran and Canada gave lectures on certain subjects. At the end of the panel, the ceremony for Toga dedication of late. Professor Charles Oberling took place. Professor Charles Oberling the famous French pathologist, was the pioneer in designing a new educational curriculum based on the modern programs in Iran. Dr. Laure Pain-Oberling, the last physician member of Professor Charles Oberling family, wife of his nephew, decided to donate Professor Oberling graduation toga to TUMS, where he had very nice memories of. The toga was donated to the officials of TUMS in IHE Seminar, and now is kept at the Iranian National Museum of Medical Sciences History.
Mobility/ Research panel, the second panel of the first day of IHE Seminar, was run by the speakers from Australia, Switzerland, Spain and Czech Republic and the first day of the IHE Seminar was ended by three panel discussions on “The German Research Landscape and Funding Opportunities”, “Mobility and Recognition of Higher Education Qualifications” and “Importance of Strategic Thinking in Internationalization of Higher Education”. The panel discussions were very fruitful and welcomed by the audience of the Seminar.
The second day of the Seminar was started with the Mobility/ Education panel and four speakers from Iran, Ukraine, Spain and Bulgaria shared their experiences with the audience in the field of internationalization of higher education. The second panel which was the last panel of IHE Seminar, aimed to discuss the Strategic Thinking in internationalization of higher education by speakers from Iran, France, Spain and Australia. The panel was successfully concluded by the distinguished invited speaker of the IHE Seminar, prof. Jane knight.
The IHE Seminar ended by offering certificates and awards to the speakers and appreciation to the organizing committee members of the IHE Seminar.
Due to the demand of Iranian universities for getting more information about international ranking and accreditation, two round tables were held to meet the demands of audience in the fields of International Ranking and Accreditation of universities.
It is notable that the IHE Seminar was host to more than 500 people from all over the country and neighbor countries as well as representatives of embassies of several countries.
