Professional biography:

Dr. Simon Clark graduated in 1984 from the University of Otago in New Zealand. He trained at Wellington Hospital and at Royal the Melbourne Hospital. After completing his pathology training at the Royal Melbourne Hospital he held academic positions at the University of Melbourne. He undertook a fellowship in dermatopathology at the Skin and Cancer Foundation of Australia in Sydney, where he subsequently practiced as a dermatopathologist, and now has a private practice in dermatopathology.  He has worked in public and private pathology and has lectured at the University of Melbourne and the University of Queensland. Dr. Clark has been involved in dermatopathology education for more than twenty years, training registrars in dermatology, pathology and plastic surgery. He is also involved in general practitioner education in skin cancer medicine. More recently he has been active in GP education. He is author of many papers in pathology in peer reviewed journals. He holds a fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia and is a member of the International Society of Dermatopathology.

He is honorary senior lecturer in pathology at the University of Queensland and presently he runs the pathology component of the postgraduate certificate courses in skin cancer medicine at the University of Queensland and also lectures in the Masters of Medicine course. 

Dr. Clark is senior consultant dermatopathologist at Douglass Hanly Moir (DHM) pathology. DHM pathology is the largest laboratory operated by Sonic Healthcare in Australia.

On May 7, 2016 Professor Clark was presented with the TUMS Distinguished Visiting Professor title for the duration of 2016-2019 by Head of Department of Dermatology, School of Medicine. On May, 2019 his visiting professorship title was renewed for the second three-year period of 2019-2022.
