Heino F. Meyer-Bahlburg, Dr. rer. nat., is a clinical psychologist with specialization in clinical and research sexology (development of gender and its variants, and of sexual behavior; psychosexual assessment).He is a Professor of Clinical Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry of Columbia University. Prof. Meyer-Bahlburg also co-directs a research program in Developmental Psychoendocrinology with a focus on intersexuality and the development of gender identity and its variants, and a Psychoendocrine Clinic that continues similar work he did at the State University of New York at Buffalo (1970-1977). Since 1987, he has been affiliated with the HIV Center with a focus on psychosexual assessment, the development and determinants of sexual risk behavior, and the effects of HIV disease on sexual functioning. He is also a member of the Organizing Committee of the Initiative for LGBT Health; a long-term member of the Columbia University/New York State Psychiatric Institute’s Institutional Review Board; and Director of the HIV Center's Development Core, and an investigator with The Program for the Study of LGBT Health. He is the author of over 200 publications, mostly in the area of sexuality and gender.
Prof. Meyer-Bahlburg received The World Professional Association for Transgender Health's (WPATH) highest honor, the "Harry Benjamin Lifetime Distinguished Scientific Achievement Award." The award was made at the 23rd WPATH Symposium in Bangkok, Thailand in February "in recognition of his seminal work on the developmental psychobiology of gender, leading to better treatment for children with Disorders of Sex Development / intersex conditions and to a better conceptualization and understanding of their psychosexual development."
On October, 2017 Prof. Meyer-Bahlburg was presented with the TUMS Distinguished Visiting Professor Title for the duration of 2017-2020 by Head of Psychosexual Medicine Department of School of Medicine.

Prof. Meyer-Bahlburg was keynote speaker in 2 day program titled Gender dysphoria; Critical psychological Considerations (23 & 24 October 2017).
