TUMS Holds Joint Course for Advances in Tissue Engineering / Three Agreements Signed
School of Advanced Technologies in Medicine at Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) held a short course for tissue engineering during 27-29 September 2014, in cooperation with Queen Mary University of London and Stem Cell Technology Research Center, said Dr. Lotfi Bakhshaiesh, Vice Dean of the School in international affairs.

 

 TUMS Office of Vice Chancellor for Global Strategies and International Affairs and also the Headquarter for Research Development and Application of Stem Cells supported holding the short course; Dr. Lotfi said adding that due to capacity limitations, 15 faculty members and university students from various parts of the country took part in the course. Professor Robert Hill, from Queen Mary University of London was invited as the visiting professor, she continued.  

Aiming at promotion of tissue engineering science as an innovative treatment strategy, teaching required skills and creating mutual collaborations, the course was held both in theory and practice, Dr. Lotfi further asserted. At the end of the 3-day short course, a joint international certificate was granted to the participants, she added.

Taking advantage of Professor Robert Hill’s presence, TUMS and Queen Mary University of London signed three agreements of sistership, faculty exchange and student exchange on 01 October 2014, in order to expedite student and faculty exchange, holding short courses, conducting joint research projects, taking part in international seminars and congresses, and facilitating accreditation process in the framework of sistership.

In addition, certificate of visiting professorship was granted to Professor Robert Hill, authorizing him to cooperate with TUMS in the fields of teaching, publishing joint papers in valid global journals, holding joint seminars, etc.
