This report introduces some of the most famous ranking systems worldwide and elaborates on their indicators moreover, it analyzes the position of distinguished Iranian universities in the said systems and compares them with each other regarding their rank and status. The universities selected include eminent Iranian medical and non-medical universities ranked in these systems. 

ESI, CWUR, ISC, 4ICU, NTU (HEEACT), Webometrics, URAP, Leiden, SIR, QS and THE are the ranking systems studied in this report.

The medical universities examined are: Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS), Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences, Shiraz University of Medical Sciences, Isfahan University of Medical Sciences, Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, and Tabriz University of Medical Sciences. 

Non-medical universities considered by ranking systems and examined in this report also include: University of Tehran, Sharif University of Technology, Shahid Beheshti University, Amir Kabir University of Technology, Iran University of Science and Technology, Shiraz University, Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, K.N.Toosi University of Technology, Tarbiat Modares University, University of Isfahan and Isfahan University of Technology.
