Abstract

Disposal of untreated or partialy treated leachate will result in environmental impacts. This study was aimed to compare the efficiencies of different coagulants such as ferrous sulfate, ferric chloride, poly ferric sulfate, alum and poly-aluminum chloride along with two anionic and cationic commercial co-coagulants in removal of chemical oxygen demond and total suspended solids of the leachate obtained from composting plant.
In this experimental study, leachate samples were collected from Isfahan composting leachate collection ponds. Jar-test experiments were carried out to determine the optimum conditions for the removal of COD and TSS, effective dosage, optimum pH and the most proper coagulant. The COD and TSS measurements were conducted in accordance with standard methods.
According to the results, poly ferric sulfate resulted in the highest COD and TSS removal efficiency at pH= 11, with 2 g/L of coagulant. The COD and TSS removal efficiencies were 49% and 51%, respectievly.
The most effective coagulant for COD and TSS removal was poly ferric sulfate which contributed to better results with an alkaline pH. From the results obtained, it may be stated that coagulation-flocculation can be used as a convenient, inexpensive pretreatment process to treat compost leachate.

were any organizations represented in the meeting? : Yes
If yes, please write the names of the organization in the box : International SolidWaste Association
What were the response to your talking points? were specific questions or concerns raised? : due to the practical worth the paper s title was highly considered then we communicated each other to do a common practice in future altogether
If you met with staff members, please list their full name & positions. : with afew attended from different country
Please make a note if there are any follow up actions we need to talk with the member of congress : Due to the worth of solid waste subjects in iran , i have contacted the director of the ISWA to have a conference in iran. email of conference is iswaconference@sibico.com
this organization has a good journal about solid waste so we can send paper of students for this journal.
there were many new technologies in variable fields of solid waste so the catalogue was got for using in future .
attend in this conference is very helpful in Knowing the experts in this field for future communication. in this regard they have accepted their conference in iran
Your experiences about the travel processes(Providing ticket, accommodation,...) : with was ok as usual
