Abstract(Please copy/paste the abstract send to the congress) : Background and Objectives: Oral health literacy skills are critical to decrease oral health disparities and promote oral health. The present study amid to assess oral health literacy level and its related factors among adults.

Methods: a cross-sectional population study was performed among 1031 adults aged 18 to 65 in 2011 in Tehran, Iran. Oral health literacy was assessed using newly constructed Oral Health Literacy Adults Questionnaire (OHL-AQ). Background information, socio-economic status, oral health information sources, and oral health literacy level were acquired by the study questionnaires. Statistical evaluation of data carried out by chi-square tests, ANOVA, t-test and regression.

Results: Mean oral health literacy scores was 10.5 (Max= 17) and totally, 35% had oral health literacy level classified as inadequate, 25% as marginal, and 40% as adequate. The most common oral health-information sources used by respondents were dentists (52.6%) and TV/radio (49.5%). The best predictors for higher oral health literacy scores were female gender, high level of education, and use of multiple information sources (p<0.001).
