Title of the Congress : 2nd International Conference and Exhibition on
Pharmacognosy, Phytochemistry & Natural Products
Title of your Abstract : Proposed categories of larvicidal activity of natural products derived from plants against Anopheles vector larvae
country : China
From : Monday, August 25, 2014
To : Wednesday, August 27, 2014
Abstract(Please copy/paste the abstract send to the congress) : Abstract:
Anopheles mosquitoes are the most important vectors among the arthropods. Human Malaria is transmitted through the bites of female Anopheles mosquitoes. It is estimated that malaria is responsible for 627 000 deaths globally. The usage of natural products as larvicides considered as a significant methods for mosquito control. Natural products have beneficial advantages including efficacy, degradability and non-toxic effects on non-target organisms.Based on laboratory and field experiences, descriptive studies or reports, six categories are considered for larvicidal activity of natural products derived from plants including extremely active, highly active, active, moderately active, slightly active and non active. This guidance suggests the likely larvicidal activity of plant essential oils based on the LC50 value. We consider natural products derived from plants extremely active when its LC50 is up to 1, highly active when its LC50 is between 1-5, active when its LC50 is between5-50, moderately active when its LC50 is between 50-100, slightly active when its LC50 is between 100-200 and non active when its LC50 is more than 200. It seems three classes extremely active, highly active and active are required more attention, while there is no priority of research for the rest of categories.

How many volunteers were present at the Congress? : 60 people
Delegates from which countries presented in the congress? : Iran, Australia, China, Taiwan, USA, Saudi Arabia, EGYPT, Indonesia, Switzerland, Russia, Malaysia, India, THAILAND, UK, South Africa, JAPAN, Republic Korea, Spain, Philippines, Turkey, Pakistan
Were the delegates of any other organizations present in the congress? : No
If yes, please write the names of the organizations in the box :
What were the responses to your talking points? Were specific questions or concerns raised? : My speech was the only on the Larvicidal effects of Natural products so it was interesting to other participants. After my speech the asked three questions.
If you met staff members, please list their full names & positions. : Many participants had small talking with greeting to me.
Please inform us if there are any follow up actions we need to talk with the members of the congress : The conference was 199th OMICS group conference, every thing was well organized and they do their best to have a good conference. Actually OMICS group has 350 open access journal and organized around 200 scientific conferences in Medical, Clinical, Pharmaceutical, Life sciences and Biology. It seems it is possibility to have relations between TUMS and OMICS in publishing and also organize conferences. This group as they announced established in the year 2007 with the aim to disseminate research knowledge. As OMICS group conferences involves the participants across the nations through major continent such as Asia, Africa, America and Europe, it seems TUMS can work with them in publishing and organize conferences.
Your experiences about the travel processes(Providing ticket, accommodation,...) : I just travel with a tour so I do not go through the visa issue etc.
Please give a briefing of your own observations and outcomes of the congress: : It was a very good conference on Pharmacognosy, Phytochemistry & Natural Products. I was the only Iranian participant in this conference. I speech on categories of larvicidal activity of natural products derived from plants against Anopheles vector larvae. Synthetic insecticides which are generally used have side-effects on human and animal health and also the environment. We discuss on usage of Natural products as larvicides. I think it was interesting for may participant. I listened lots of speech in the conference and learnt much form them. The conference was well managed and everything was on time.
