What were the responses to your talking points? Were specific questions or concerns raised? : |
Discussions were around the simple and low cost methods for removal of fluoride from water. in general, it is obvious that simple local methods in many cases can mitigate fluoride from water. |
If you met staff members, please list their full names & positions. : |
Bruce Spittle, fluorde journal editor |
Please inform us if there are any follow up actions we need to talk with the members of the congress : |
The problem of fluoride intake through different materials (water, foods, additives, supplementary etc could arise adverse human health effects. International society for fluoride research attempts to develop the knowledge about the effect of fluoride on human health. In addition, different efficient methods of fluoride mitigation are considered. With regard to the importance of this issue, it is not only water resources cause the problem but also different materials can involve communities.
Accordingly, with regard to valuable experience of the fluoride society, a close relation could enhance the knowledge of fluoride concerns and mitigation strategies. Some known scientists such as Dr. B. Spittle and Professor Jörg Spitz could help a lot.

In all cases, “prevention is prior to treatment”.
Observing the people suffering from the fluorosis was very oppressive; the experiences of applying local defluoridation actions were interesting. A school was equipped with a local water supply system in order to mitigate the fluoride concentrations. A kind of adsorption process incorporated with filtration methods was applied for this purpose. Such a system could serve not only the school but also serve a portion of the community using portable containers. An important point here is the problem of water shortage in some parts of the world especially middle east region and pollution of existing fresh waters by different pollutant such as industrial wastewaters. In that harsh situation the probability of presence of other pollutant is of concern. Therefore taking some actions for such a probable problem is very important. |
