Destination Country : United States
From : Saturday, April 5, 2014
To : Wednesday, April 9, 2014
Abstract(Please copy/paste the abstract send to the congress) : Introduction: VP Shunt is a routine operation in childhood age, which lead to several complications and their management would be challenging due to very young age.

Methods: A 12 months old infant underwent VP Shunt insertion due to hydrocephalus. He developed enlargement and fluid accumulation at Right hemiscrotum. Ultrasonography detected Hydrocele with tip of peritoneal catheter in right hemiscrotum. Patient did not suffer from any fever or hydrocephalus presentation.

Results: pediatric surgery consult was performed. CSF analysis detected no bacteria and the profile was normal. The patient underwent revision of the peritoneal catheter tip with repeated scalp incision over the attachment of catheter to pump and the length of catheter was reduced. At the same session the repair of Hydrocele was performed with excellent outcome.
Conclusion: herniation of peritoneal catheter tip should be assessed regarding infection and surgical aspects. Multidisciplinary approach leads to achieve best results.

Please inform us if there are any follow up actions we need to talk with the members of the congress : Fellowship courses could be applied for young neurosurgeons. They provide research fellows. They are interested to work with Tehran university and provide neurosurgical society to cooperate with Iranian colleagues. Many Iranians such as prof. Sanai and Aarabi are at high positions and could help others.
Your experiences about the travel processes(Providing ticket, accommodation,...) : Very expensive: 1500€!, but nice place and safe flight
Please give a briefing of your own observations and outcomes of the congress: : There were interesting surgical Simulators for education of residents.
Very informative courses and also 3D anatomy courses were Held.
New ideas could be found there. The technical aspects and close relation to basic scientists are unique. Some fellowships such as peripheral nerve were not present in Iran.
They used hybrid education for vascular neurosurgeons to learn endo- and open surgeries. Combination of different visualization methods and genetic markets are in progress and it seems necessary in Iran.
Young neurosurgeons have their own organizations.
