Information of Congress
Title of the Congress : 5th European Nutrition and Dietetics Conference
Title of your Abstract : Comparison between the Effect of Six Weeks Morning or Evening Aerobic Exercise on Appetite and Anthropometric Indices
Destination Country : Italy
From : Thursday, June 16, 2016
To : Saturday, June 18, 2016
Abstract(Please copy/paste the abstract send to the congress) : In recent decades, obesity has become a major health problem. So far, several studies have showed that physical activity is related to creating negative energy balance and changes in appetite directly. However, few of the studies examined the effect of exercise time during the day on these factors. The main aim of the present study was demonstrating the effect of 6 weeks morning and evening aerobic exercise on appetite and anthropometric indices. Forty-eight overweight females were recruited in this clinical trial. By the time of exercise, they were divided into two groups (morning or evening) and performed 6 weeks of aerobic exercise with the target heart rate on the ventilatory threshold. Appetite change, calorie intake, and anthropometric indices were assessed. All of the variables were compared between two groups and within groups at baseline, in the third and sixth week. Some parameters of appetite indices were changed significantly in morning and evening exercise groups in time point’s measurements. However, consistent changes in the appetite scores were not found along the 6 weeks (P > 0.05). Calorie consumption of the morning group decreased along the 6 weeks significantly greater than evening group (P= 0.02). In addition, significant changes in weight, BMI, abdominal skin fold thickness, and abdominal circumference were seen in the morning group (P < 0.05). It seems that moderate to high intensity aerobic exercise in the morning along 6 weeks could be considered as a more effective program than evening exercise on appetite control, calorie intake, and weight loss.

The Congress Reporting Form
How many volunteers were present at the Congress? : About 50-100 volunteers in different days of congress
Delegates from which countries presented in the congress? : USA, Italy, Canada, Spain, Japan,...
Were the delegates of any other organizations present in the congress? : No
If yes, please write the names of the organizations in the box :
What were the responses to your talking points? Were specific questions or concerns raised? : The title was interesting for volunteers, as the field of research was in the sports nutrition. Some questions and research points were discussed after the presentation. For example evaluation of blood glucose or sleep pattern after exercise in the morning and evening in the future research.
If you met staff members, please list their full names & positions. : Mario Ciampolini, University of Florence, Italy
Martyn Caplin, Royal Free Hospital, UK
Please inform us if there are any follow up actions we need to talk with the members of the congress : The specific follow up action for the present congress is not necessary, but I believe that communication in the level of international is the base of scientific progression of faculty members and students. So we need some facilities for attendance to similar congresses or scientific community. For example online payment from Iran for registration needs some help from TUMS.
Your experiences about the travel processes(Providing ticket, accommodation,...) : The congress was held in the reserved hotel, so the transport was easy and my accommodation was without problem.
Please give a briefing of your own observations and outcomes of the congress: : In today's world, research without communication with other countries is impossible. Discussions about different fields in sports nutrition and nutrition therapy for example new evidence about appetite control or weight management were very informative for me. New titles of research were another outcome of the congress in my specialized area. However, it seems that our researches in Iran despite the small credit funds are up-to-date in comparison with other countries especially compared to developing countries. Some presented research in the congress had a new perspective for example “Disaster Nutrition as a novel nomenclature” that was presented by Teruyoshi Amagai from Mukogawa Women’s University, Japan.
