In one of the sessions on Dental Public Health education, when we explained about our program for undergraduate dental students, the delegates from European countries were impressed. They wanted us to present the situation of Dental Public Health education in Iran, in their next year meeting. They also were doing a questionnaire survey on the subject, and included Iran in the survey. Some other scientific discussions also were done with colleagues from other universities. |
If you met staff members, please list their full names & positions. : |
There was a meeting with Prof. Jorma Virtanen from Department of Oral Public Health, University of Oulo, Finland. We also talked to professor Jenny Gallagher from King's College, London. She was interested in the situation of Dental public Health Education in Iran. |
Please inform us if there are any follow up actions we need to talk with the members of the congress : |
As they invited us to participate in their next meeting in September 2016, Budapest, we may need support from TUMS for that. The aim would be to expand experiences in Dental public Health discipline through establishing collaborations with European countries on research and education in the filed of Dental public Health. |
Your experiences about the travel processes(Providing ticket, accommodation,...) : |
The meeting was held in Istanbul, so we did not face any difficulty in travel and accommodation since we reserved all these in advance. |
Please give a briefing of your own observations and outcomes of the congress: : |
Through participation in the discussions in the meeting, I became sure that we have many good resources in the field of Dental Public Health compared to many European countries, which can help us promoting oral health of our community. In fact, We are in a better situation than many European countries (except the most developed ones like UK and Germany). Our primary health care system is a really valuable ground and resource for oral health promotion program. Many countries in the world lack such a system. We only need more organization and planning. |
