Abstract(Please copy/paste the abstract send to the congress) : Aim: One of the barriers preventing drug- addicts from receiving dental services is lack of adequate knowledge on addiction among dentists. The present study aimed to design a valid and reliable questionnaire on knowledge of dental students regarding dental treatment of addicts. Methods: A content validity process was used to design the questionnaire. First, the domains covering the objectives of the questionnaire were determined. According to the specified domains, questions were extracted from previous studies, and a primary draft comprising two parts of individual background characteristics and knowledge on dental treatments of addicts was produced. Experts in Dental Public Health reviewed the draft. Based on the responses by experts, inter-rater agreement index, scale content validity index (S-CVI), and item content validity index (I-CVI) were calculated and accordingly, necessary revisions were made. Then seven dental students as lay experts reviewed the draft. To determine the reliability of the questionnaire a test-retest process with 21 dental students and one week interval was applied, and Kappa and Cronbach’s alpha coefficients were calculated. The study protocol was approved by Research Ethics Committee, Tehran University of Medical Sciences. Results: From the 30 knowledge questions in the first draft of the questionnaire, 25 questions were considered to be desirable by experts, leading to an inter-rater agreement of 83.3%. S-CVI of the knowledge questions was 100%. I-CVI for 25 questions was 100%, and for the remaining five questions was at least 90%. Both Kappa and Cronbach’s alpha coefficients were more than 0.6. Conclusion: The newly designed questionnaire benefits from acceptable validity and reliability and can be used as a tool to assess dental students’ knowledge of dental treatments for addicts after a standardization process.

How many volunteers were present at the Congress? : Around 300 people participated.
Delegates from which countries presented in the congress? : The participants were mostly from European countries including UK, Finland, the Netherlands, Germany, Russia, Ukraine, Turkey, etc. Delegated from more than 15 countries were present.
Were the delegates of any other organizations present in the congress? : Yes
If yes, please write the names of the organizations in the box : Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences, School of Dentistry
What were the responses to your talking points? Were specific questions or concerns raised? : In one of the sessions on Dental Public Health education, when we explained about our program for undergraduate dental students, the delegates from European countries were impressed. They wanted us to present the situation of Dental Public Health education in Iran, in their next year meeting. They also were doing a questionnaire survey on the subject, and included Iran in the survey. Some other scientific discussions also were done with colleagues from other universities.
If you met staff members, please list their full names & positions. : There was a meeting with Prof. Jorma Virtanen from Department of Oral Public Health, University of Oulo, Finland. We also talked to professor Jenny Gallagher from King's College, London. She was interested in the situation of Dental public Health Education in Iran.
Please inform us if there are any follow up actions we need to talk with the members of the congress : As they invited us to participate in their next meeting in September 2016, Budapest, we may need support from TUMS for that. The aim would be to expand experiences in Dental public Health discipline through establishing collaborations with European countries on research and education in the filed of Dental public Health.
Your experiences about the travel processes(Providing ticket, accommodation,...) : The meeting was held in Istanbul, so we did not face any difficulty in travel and accommodation since we reserved all these in advance.
Please give a briefing of your own observations and outcomes of the congress: : Through participation in the discussions in the meeting, I became sure that we have many good resources in the field of Dental Public Health compared to many European countries, which can help us promoting oral health of our community. In fact, We are in a better situation than many European countries (except the most developed ones like UK and Germany). Our primary health care system is a really valuable ground and resource for oral health promotion program. Many countries in the world lack such a system. We only need more organization and planning.
