Department of Forensic Medicine

Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology was established in 1939 under the organizational support of the School of Medicine, Tehran University of Medical Sciences.

 

 

As the first and largest department of Forensic Medicine in Iran, this department utilizes the most advanced and up to date facilities in multiple centers with 9 faculty members. The main programs are:

 

Forensic Medicine Residency Program:

Such as:

  • Forensic Science, including the forensic aspects of toxicology, anthropology, and odontology; 
  • Forensic Pathology, death investigation and causes of death, including death in custody and suicide; and,
  • Forensic Psychiatry, including child abuse and neglect, interpersonal violence, elder abuse, domestic violence, sexual violence, suicidal behaviours, care in custody, restraint injuries, torture, and human rights.

 

Clinical Toxicology Residency Program

  • Forensic and clinical Traumatology, such as; Impairmaent rating, Insurance, etc.
  • Clinical Forensic Medicine, such as; Legal consulting, Risk Assessment

2. Clinical Forensic Medicine and Traumatology including:

  • Imam Khomeini Hospital
  • Shariati Hospital

  • Heart Center Hospital

3. Five libraries located in the Department and Hospitals can provide a broad range of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology books to students and professionals.

4. Baharloo Toxicology research center facilitate the conduct of most researches in Department of Forensic and Clinical Toxicology.
