Guideline on Extending a One-Year Residency or Visa Permit for TUMS International Students

TUMS is the oldest and most well-known medical center in Iran, nationally as well as internationally. TUMS, as one of the country’s top research universities, accepts applications from the most qualified students. It also has the largest schools of medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, rehabilitation, allied medical sciences, public health, advanced technologies in medicine, nutritional sciences and dietetics, and nursing and midwifery in Iran as well as a virtual school.

In order to facilitate administrative affairs and observe consular regulations, as well as saving your time, it is imperative to proceed with extending a one-year residency permit/ visa permission for (1 up to 3 months) during your study at TUMS, annually.

 

1. You must proceed with extending your one-year residency permit one month in advance before expiring the current residency permission.

To extending visa permission for (1 up to 3 months) which is applicable for short time program, students should proceed it within two weeks after the registration.

 

2. Upon submitting your required documents (see below) to the Visa and Consular Affairs Office on TUMS, you will receive a receipt which should be kept with you during the time that you do not have your passport with you. You can receive your passport after approximately one month, upon submitting your receipt and competed form.

  

3. Required documents are as follows:

Extending a one-year residency permit

  1. Original passport
  2. Four 3*4 pictures
  3. Four copies of your passport’s information page (first page)
  4. Four copies of your current residency permission
  5. Four copies of your Police Dept. ID Label (it is on your last page of your passport)
  6. Completed Application form for Residence Permit Renewal (available at TUMS Directorate of International Affairs and Development). All the information of the form should be typed completely and then printed out before submitting to the office.
  7. Deposit 200,000 Rials (20,000 Tomans) in to the Police department bank Account (2171151302005) in Meli Bank and submit the payment’s receipt with your documents to TUMS Visa Office.
  8. 15,000 Rials in cash (1,500 Tomans) for opening a file at the police department and issuance of a one-year permit.

 Extending Visa permit

  1. Original passport
  2. Three 3*4 pictures
  3. Three copies of your passport’s information page (first page)
  4. Three copies of your current Visa permission
  5. Completed Application form for Visa Permit extension (available at TUMS Directorate of International Affairs and Development). All the information of the form should be typed completely and then printed out before submitting to the office.
  6. Deposit 300,000 Rials (30,000 Tomans) for one month and 700,000 Rials (70,000 Tomans) for 3 months in to the Police department bank Account (2171151302005) in Meli Bank and submit the payment’s receipt with your documents to TUMS Visa Office.
  7. 15,000 Rials in cash (1,500 Tomans) for opening a file at the police department and issuance of a one-year permit.

 

Important Recommendation: Upon receiving your one-year residency / visa extension permit, students must check the validity of it and inform the Visa office for any incorrect information.

 

Please observe the following notice:

 

A. Students whose passports are near to their expiration date need to renew their passports via their countries' embassy in Tehran, and then proceed with obtaining the residency extension stamp with their already expired passport. Students whose countries do not have an embassy in Iran need to refer the Visa and Consular Affairs office at TUMS Directorate of International Affairs and Development, for consultation and further information.

 

B. In case you proceed with renewing your passport in your country of citizenship during your trip, you must have your old passport, containing previous residency stamps and student visa, with you in order to be able to return to Iran. In order to transfer all legal permissions from your old passport to your new one, Please refer to the Visa and Consular Affairs office at TUMS Directorate of International Affairs and Development, at the address below, for consultation and further information immediately after your arrival to Iran.

 

 

Important note: Incident insurance coverage is required for all International students on TUMS and other higher education institutions in Iran. International students can apply for accident insurance by purchasing electronic accident insurance through the online system. The Hayat-e-Amn Insurance Company is available at www.hayateamn.ir and the provision of consular services to International students will be subject to the issuance of an accident insurance policy.
