Traditional Pharmacy
Traditional Pharmacy is a research based field planned for reviving traditional prescriptions as well as providing evidence for these treatments. Traditional pharmacy PhD students gain experience in quality control of herbal materials and formulations as well as preparing formulations of natural products, based on medical and pharmaceutical manuscripts in Iranian Traditional Medicine. The graduates will be able to revive old prescriptions, expand the knowledge about traditional natural treatments, formulate and- if necessary- modify prescriptions for higher efficacy and stability.
Duration
The Traditional Pharmacy program lasts at least 4 years.
Objectives
The main aim of the PhD program in Traditional Pharmacy is to educate competent knowledgeable pharmacists who are qualified to put the traditional treatments into practice in forms of modern dosage forms.
Methods of Instruction
During this course, various methods and techniques will be used:

Various intra- and intersectoral, hospital, interdisciplinary and inter-university conferences as well as seminars

Discussion in small groups, workshops, journal clubs and reading groups as well as Case Presentation

Participation in training lower ranks

Self-Education, Self-Study

Other training methods and techniques according to the requirements and objectives
Who Can Attend?
Having a PharmD or MSc in pharmacy awarded by one of the domestic or overseas universities approved by the Ministry of Health and Medical Education.

- Presenting Recommendation letters
- Meeting admission criteria based on the regulations of universities
- The eligible candidate must be proficient in English or Persian.

Application Deadline
Tehran University of Medical Sciences has a rolling application system and reviews student applications all year round.
However, the deadline for the September intake is June 31, and the deadline for the February intake is October 31.
