University of Torbat-e Heydarieh (UTH)

The principle aim of the University of Torbat-e Heydarieh (UTH) is to launch some B.Sc. and M.Sc. programmes within the 3 Faculties (Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Civil and Faculty of Agriculture).

These programmes are:

Computer Engineering, Mechanic Engineering, Power Engineering, Civil Engineering,Telecommunication ,EngineeringArchitecture Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Range and Watershed Management, Agricultural Economic, Plant Productions, Medicine Plants The mission of the University of Torbat-e Heydarieh (UTH) is to stimulate, create and disseminate scientific knowledge, to educate members of the society, and to promote social culture.

The University has the autonomy for decision-making within research and studies as well as for organisational and financial activities. The president of the university is assisted by 3 Vice-presidents, governs the University.

Therefore the main public task of the partner is education. Today the University comprises 3 faculties (as said above), and one institutes (Saffron Research institute). The university has 4 collaboration contracts with other universities; 3 in Iran (Tehran University, Ferdowsi University, and Zabol University) and 1 in Afghanistan (Harat University).

About 2100 students (55 %women) are studying at the University. The number of full-time and part-time students for BSc degree amounts to 2000 and the other are MSc students.

Research is one of the most important areas of university activities. The total number of academic staff is about 70, including more than 50 employees holding scientific degrees and 20 researchers. Research is carried out in the Saffron Research institute.

The university has 2 educational building with more than 30 classrooms (All classes are equipped with video projector), more than 20 laboratories (such as computer lab, Digital lab, electronic lab, soil lab, GIS lab, RS lab, and …), a library with more than 5000 books, a computer site with more than 200 computers, a sport hall, and three self-services.

Last year, more than 50 research projects were done in various topics, and 10 books were published in this university.

As stated above, the university has departments of C.Sc and C.Eng. and telecommunication engineering, and other fields of science and engineering, and a lot of researches are done in the fields of ITC and Elearning.

So there are a lot of facilities in the university for proceeding such these projects and also more equipment is needed.

Currently, the main topics of research projects in the ITC department are in the field of data mining and data analysis, artificial intelligence, social networks and image processing. UTH will provides the contributing to the dissemination of the program, selection of equipment and assisting in the center development, monitoring the progress of the project by providing index and planning, participating in surveying and benchmarking activities. UTH also be responsible for dissemination of results of common work within the project. UTH staff will be trained on use ICT in education and deliver learning objects to be uploaded at the educational portal.
