Director of Iraqi Board For Medical Specializations, Dean of the School of Dentistry, Al-Mustansiriya University, and Director of Medical Degree Assessment, Iraqi Ministry of Health had opportunity to meet with Chancellor and Vice Chancellor for Global Strategies and International Affairs, Tehran University of Medical Sciences.
Dr. Kheradmand, Vice Chancellor for Global Strategies and International Affairs of the university welcomed the delegation, appreciated the Iraqi keen interest in international affairs, and considered it as a good indication on the fair relation between two parties.
Dr. Ghasemi, Director of International relations, Accreditation and Ranking gave a brief history of TUMS as a comprehensive university in the region. He described research and educational activities carried out in schools/departments and scientific potentials of the university to the delegation.
Following the presentation and for a more detailed description and full explanation of TUMS admission requirements, policies, and procedures, Dr. Shabani, Dean of International Affairs and Development, gave a detailed description of the university approach as well. He explained about the application and admission to the university, facilities available to students such as residency, insurance, sport facilities, tours and even the opportunity given to non-Persian speaking international students at TUMS to learn Persian while living in Tehran. He added that TUMS tries to offer services to its international students to help them adjust to their new life.
At the end of the meeting, Dr. Kheradmand Pointed to the importance of degrees coordination between TUMS and Iraqi Board For Medical Specializations and noted that Tehran University of Medical Sciences will be glad to receive requests individually and as a formal one from the Board.
Upon their visit to TUMS, the delegation had also opportunity to visit Obstetric Ward of Imam Khomeini Hospital, Department of Surgery of Cancer Institute, School of Nursing and Midwifery, and being engaged in talk with the authorities of each ward.
