Based on the new web evaluation system, Scientific Information Database (SID) is ranked the first and University of Tehran, Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS), Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, Isfahan University of Medical Sciences, Sharif University of Technology, Shiraz University of Medical Sciences, Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, Isfahan University of Technology, and Amirkabir University of Technology are ranked 2nd to 10th respectively.
Islamic Azad University in Karaj, University of Applied Science and Technology, Iran University of Science and Technology, Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences and Health Services, Shahid Beheshti University, Payame Noor University, Iranian Research Institute for Information Science and Technology, Urmia Unversity, Tabriz University of Medical Sciences, and Tarbiat Modares University are also placed in 11th to 20th ranking positions respectively.
The number of research institutions and universities under evaluation increased from 248 to 563, as reported by Islamic World Science Citation Center (ISC). Changes made in methodology of the said ranking system are as follows:
1. In previous rankings, only Scientific documents in the form of PDF were taken into consideration, however, in the new version, all documents in form of PDF, Doc, Docx, PPT and PPts in websites of universities and research institutions are identified and taken into account.
2. Number of pages made visible by Google search engine is taken into consideration and is referred to as size rank in ranking indexes.
3. Inlinks or Backlinks which are of high significance are extracted from Majestic SEO.
4. Traffic rank has been obtained from Alexa site, as before.
5. Web design rank has also been selected / specified according to criteria defined in the form of web content, searching factors, and user facilities.
