According to the Vice Chancellor for Global Strategies and International Affairs’ report, Dr. Ahmadian, the dean of the School of Advanced technologies in Medicine, Dr. Nekoofar, the director of International Relations, Accreditation and Ranking, Pieere Andre Lhote, French Embassy Scientific Advisor, Dr. Shamshiri, the director of the Communication and Applied-Research, office of Vice-Chancellor for Research Affairs, Dr Lotfi Bakhshayesh, the vice dean for the School of Advanced Technologies in Medicine, Jean Michel Pry, the director of a French hospital, Dr. Saberi Namin, the international officer in the Research Affairs’ section of the university, Mr. sayyadi, Ms. Azadi and Ms. Mohammadian, the international experts of office of Vice-Chancellor for Global Strategies and International Affairs, were all present in this meeting that was held on November, 2nd .
Dr. Arab Kheradmand in the beginning introduced Tehran University of Medical Sciences and gave some explanation about the services that Tehran University of Medical Sciences’ Health Centers provide for patients.
Dr. Arab Kheradmand mentioned that along with goal of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education, Tehran University of Medical Sciences, Iran University of Medical Sciences and Shahid Behehshti University of Medical Sciences play important roles in providing health services in Tehran province.
Dr. Nekoofar, the director of International Relations, Accreditation and Ranking explained that the large number of the patients and different aspects for cooperation such as food, medicine, public health and professional degrees of public health are the strength points of Tehran University of Medical Sciences. Afterwards, accreditation and quality assurance in different parts of the university were discussed.
Dr. Younesian, The vice president for Research Affairs of Tehran University of Medical Sciences started with a brief explanation about research evaluation of Ministry of Health that has been conducted for Iranian universities of medical sciences and added that these criterions are mostly based on quantity indicators.
Dr. Didier Houssin also pointed out to the evaluation systems of the French universities, research centers and higher education institutions and expressed that the French High Council for Evaluation of Research evaluates the mentioned centers.
He expressed that criterions that HCERES considers for the evaluation of research centers are the academic effectivity or institutional factors and added that a special committee responsible for this accreditation provides a report with regard to the institutions’ self-assessment and site-visits and gives this report to the France’s minister of national education. This committee is also evaluated every five years by the responsible institutions.
Dr. Houssin, in the end, evaluated different parts of Tehran University of Medical Sciences positively and mentioned that the implementation of accreditation in the university, faculty member/student exchange and cooperation in different fields such as rare diseases, controlling food and medicine can be the initiator of a new aspect of the mutual interaction of both parties.
