In this clinical fellowship, I had the chance to visit many dermatooncology patient in a specialized center under the supervision of a dermato-oncologist and learn about the latest updates in this field. |
2.List the objectives of your sabbatical leave as listed in your proposal and indicate how completely they were met : |
I learned about the latest treatment modalities of late stage Mycosis Fungoides and Sezary syndrome including Extracorporeal Photophoresis (ECP), Total Skin Electron Beam Radiotherapy (TSEB) and Immunetherapies. I learned about the new immune therapies for Mycosis Fungoides such as mogamulizumab, and Brentuximab (the dosages, side effects, efficacy) I had the chance to observe the ultra-hypofractionated low-dose TSEB that is performed in Helios Klinikum for tumoral stage MF patients. Also I observed Sentinel Lymph node dissections performed by dermatologist at Helios Klinikum Krefeld for Melanoma patients. During my 3 months stay, I had the chance to follow the MF patients through their treatment protocol and observe their response to treatments such as extracorporeal photophoresis, Total skin radiotherapy. During my near 3 months stay I had the chance to follow the patients from their first diagnosis of melanoma through the surgery and sentinel lymph node biopsy, staging process and adjuvent immune therapies. |

The EADV clinical fellowship at Helios Klinikum Krefeld in cutaneous lymphoma under the supervision of Dr. Chalid Assaf was a unique experience that allowed me to understand the latest treatment options for patients with Advanced stages of cutaneous T-cell lymphoma. This opportunity not only broadened my understanding of dermato-oncology but also ignited a passion for this valuable field that I aim to integrate into my future medical practice in my home country. I am grateful for the knowledge and insights gained during this fellowship, which have paved the way for my continued growth and development as a healthcare professional |
