An examination of the NTU ranking system in 2018 shows that Tehran University of Medical Sciences ranked 434 in the list of top universities in the world (after University of Tehran), which indicates a significant growth from 2017.
Also, Amirkabir and Tarbiat Modares universities have been ranked 650 and 601 respectively, while Isfahan and Sharif universities ranked 700 and 651.

The NTU ranking was first published in 2007 by the Higher Education Evaluation and Accreditation Council of Taiwan (HEEACT) and measures the quantity, quality, and the impact of research by its systemic indicators.
