The Department of Anesthesiology dates back to 1950 and has developed and expanded since then. This department has 73 faculty members, as well as 117 residents and fellowship students in specialties including pain, intensive care, neuro-anesthesia, and palliative medicine. The department and its allied branches conduct conferences and seminars on a periodic basis, and its members actively participate both in national and international congresses.
Some of the department’s faculty members hold editorial board positions in certain renowned journals of the world as well as E.I.C. positions in the journals of Archives of Neuroscience, Archives of Anesthesiology and Critical Care, and the official journal of the Iranian Society of Anesthesiology. Two international books including Airway Management and Challenging Topics in Neuroanesthesia and Neuorocritical Care have been published by Springer International Publisher in 2014 and 2017 by the academic staff.
