A Meeting on International Institutional Accreditation for Five Iranian Medical Universities
A Meeting on International Institutional Accreditation for five Iranian Medical Universities was held in the Office of Vice-chancellor for Global Strategies and International Affairs of Tehran University of Medical Sciences.

 

A Meeting on International Institutional Accreditation for five Iranian Medical Universities was held in the office of Global Strategies and International Affairs of Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) on August 29th, 2016 and Dr. Nekoofar, the director of International Relations, Accreditation and Ranking of TUMS, Ms. Azadi, the senior accreditation officer of the Secretariat of International Accreditation for Iranian Medical Universities and the representatives of the Educational Affairs, Research Affairs, Student Affairs, International Affairs and Management Development of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences, Urmia University of Medical Sciences, Semnan University of Medical Sciences, Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences and the University of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation Sciences were all present in the meeting.

Dr. Nekoofar started his speech about the importance of international accreditation and its relation to the mission that has been stated by the Ministry of Health and Medical Education for internationalization of Iranian Medical Universities. Dr. Nekoofar also added that though accreditation is a voluntary act, its privileges has made it a must especially for Iranian Medical Universities.

Following Dr. Nekoofar’s speech, Ms. Azadi explained the self-assessment forms and process and gave tips on how to persuade the staff of the university to take part in the process. Ms. Azadi managed the meeting in the form of a workshop and an ask-and-answer time was arranged after explaining each process.  

Noting that The Urmia University of Medical Sciences has been the first university that is about to commence the self-assessment process, Dr. Asemi, the International Relations’ officer of this university talked about how they have managed to do so.
