Abstract(Please copy/paste the abstract send to the congress) : Background: A wide variety of factors are considered to contribute to the initiation of drug use.
Among them parenting and early childhood experiences are thought to be particularly important.
Aims: This paper aims to report on the results of a qualitative inquiry that explored the early
childhood experiences of current substance-dependent young adults in Tehran, Iran, and
the roles of nurses in the field of addictions in settings such as Iran were assessed.
Design and Methods: The study was qualitative in nature.
Forty four in-depth interviews were conducted with young men and women who were either in
treatment for their addiction or were active drug users at the time of the interviews their
parents and family members and nurses .
Results: The analysis of this study implicates traumatic childhood experiences, dysfunctional
family dynamics, disconnect between parents and children, as well as parents’ knowledge and
attitudes about drug use and prevention as the determinants of initial drug use. Also analysis of interviews with nurses reveled categories like unfamiliar world of addiction and prejudgment.

Conclusion: All determining factors identified by the participants of this study are within the
scope of current nursing practice such as early childhood, community or school nursing, where
there are great opportunities and unmet need for greater nursing involvement. Nurses who work
with adolescents and families have a unique opportunity for prevention, early detection and
timely intervention for drug dependency among at risk children.

If you met staff members, please list their full names & positions. : I met many researchers and academitions like M.VanDijk,A.Darbyshire and the chair of Congress: professor Jan.A.Hazelzet
Please inform us if there are any follow up actions we need to talk with the members of the congress : ESPANIC is a highly prestigious congress which is so informative and I think having some members and from Iran in this congress would be great. I believe attending such a meeting will help us broad our views and will give us so many good ideas for our future works. The main problem about taking part in these congresses is financial problems, in fact, this time I paid my membership myself, but I think universities should think about it in the future and consider some active members as their own representative in these big events. Definitely, we need more financial support otherwise it looks impossible for most of us to take part in future congresses around the world.
Your experiences about the travel processes(Providing ticket, accommodation,...) : The travel it self was a great experience , but getting Visa from Netherlands embassy was so hard, for instance my colleague tried it and couldn't be able to get a visa . Therefor I decided to apply for Sweden embassy( Since in the past I have traveled there several times and was somehow sure about getting visa),so I had to travel to Sweden, from there I got another ticket to Netherlands. For me, accommodation was so expensive ,but thankfully, at last I found a hotel next to the conference building, which helped me not to pay extra money for commuting.
Please give a briefing of your own observations and outcomes of the congress: : The congress was so informative and I have learnt a lot, they provided very good workshops and lectures, every things were organized carefully, we met so many people from all around the world and made connections for future events, I got some new ideas for research and became familiar with new advanced technology they were presenting there. We visited Sophia hospital which is a well known center for taking care of children. The conference center were located next to the main train station and commuting was somehow easy. Also ,there were many restaurants every where next to the congress. Moreover, for those people who wanted to have access to shopping centers it was only a short walk away from congress. Interestingly most of the people living there were from other countries , I met many Arab, Turk and African people living all together peacefully.
