Abstract:
Regulatory T cells are important players of the immune system that downregulate the immune responses. T regs are considered as the main mediators of peripheral tolerance. Their mechanisms of action and clinical applications are subjects of considerable debate currently. These cells are involved in preventing autoimmunity so defective in development and function of these cells can result in autoimmune disease.
Increasing evidence supports the role of miR-21 in the regulation of foxp3 expression in Treg cells. In this research we tried to clarify whether miR-21 transfection to naïve CD4+ T cells ise useful in generation of iTregs invitro. We separated naïve T cells using negative isolation magnetic kit and cultured in the presence of anti CD3, anti CD 28 and Treg polarizing cytokine or miR-21 transfection. We investigated invitro differentiation of miR-21- transfected naïve CD4+ T cells to iTregs and then compared these iTregs to cytokine- differentiated iTregs and negative control. We showed that expression of foxp3, TGF-b, IL-10 are increased in miR-21 transfected naïve T cells in comparison to cytokine-differentiated iTregs and negative control.
Conclusion: Our data demonstrate that mir-21 is effective in invitro differentiation of generation of naïve Tcells to iTregs.

The Congress Reporting Form
How many volunteers were present at the Congress? : more than 5000 people
Delegates from which countries presented in the congress? : all over the world including Italy, USA, UK,Canada, Germany, Switzerland,
Were the delegates of any other organizations present in the congress? : Yes
If yes, please write the names of the organizations in the box : WHO, IUIS, EFIS, Immunology societies of different countries
What were the responses to your talking points? Were specific questions or concerns raised? : as the presented abstract was among the hot topics in immunology, many other participants shared their experiences and interests.
If you met staff members, please list their full names & positions. : We met some scientist and invited them to participate in international congress of immunology which is going to be held in tehran next spring. We invited one of the Noble prize winners to participate in our immunology congress and he is going to be in tehran in Ordibehesht.
Please inform us if there are any follow up actions we need to talk with the members of the congress : Some people frome IUIS as well as some other distinguished scientists are going to participate in ICIA in ORDIBEHSHT in Tehran. It is a good opportunity for TUMS to establish very constructive relations with above mentioned invited guests and their affiliated institutions. Besides there are other distinguished guests attending in ICIA and we can plan some lectures and visits in different departments of TUMS
Your experiences about the travel processes(Providing ticket, accommodation,...) : Every thing was excellent, I think it was mostly because the iranian society of Immunology and allergy was involved in formal affairs such as getting visa.
Please give a briefing of your own observations and outcomes of the congress: : The congress was excellent regarding the scientific content of the event. Many distinguished scientists attended actively in crowded sessions. Some plenary lectures were planned for 7 in the mornings and many students and researchers were attending very eagerly. Lunch time lectures which were planned mainly by relative companies were among the most attractive occasions of the congress. In these workshops almost all technical aspects of immunology was covered thoroughly. Poster presentation sessions were immensely welcome by participants and many discussion groups between researchers of different nationalities formed. I think here in Iran we must oblige our postgraduate students to prepare comprehensive and detailed scientific reports of lectures and in this way all students would participate in sessions more efficiently.
