Information of Congress
Title of the Congress : “Emerging Challenges and Opportunities in Soil Microbiology
Title of your Abstract : Campylobacter and appendicular syndrome: Report of 6 cases
country : England
From : Monday, September 01, 2014
To : Tuesday, September 02, 2014
Abstract(Please copy/paste the abstract send to the congress) : Background and Aim: Appendicitis is inflammation of the appendix and is a medical emergency, that many people could be infected. Many factors among them causes appendicitis. Bacterial infection of gastrointestinal tract plays a major role and Campylobacter is the most important in causing appendicitis. The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence of Campylobacter in suspected samples of appendicitis. Materials and Methods: This is a descriptive study. In a period of one year, 216 samples of appendicitis tissues were investigated. The samples first cultured in enrichment medium (thioglycolate pH=8.5) for 24 hours, and then were cultured in charcoal blood containing cefoperazone and amphotericin-B (Biomerieux) antibiotics. The cultures were incubated at microaerophilic conditions at 42 C for 48 hours. The Campylobacter stains appeared S shaped on culture. The gram stain, motility, oxidase, and hippurate hydrolysis were carried out on the colonies for the identifications. Results: Out of 216 tested samples, five were identified as Campylobacter jejuni, and one as Campylobacter coli. The resistance antibiotic patterns showed high level of resistance to tetracycline and nalidixic acid. Conclusion: The results of this study showed that

Were the delegates of any other organizations present in the congress? : Yes
If yes, please write the names of the organizations in the box : Scotish microbilogy society
What were the responses to your talking points? Were specific questions or concerns raised? : I presented a poster and I answered any question was asked. I think I had a good imprison on the delegate from other country.
If you met staff members, please list their full names & positions. : I did not met any staff member.
Please inform us if there are any follow up actions we need to talk with the members of the congress : I presented a poster and I answered any question was asked. I think I had a good imprison on the delegate from other country .Their questions were mainly about my work, and some also asked about the progress of science in Iran, especially European were surprised the level of our progress in science.
Your experiences about the travel processes(Providing ticket, accommodation,...) : I had very good experience
Please give a briefing of your own observations and outcomes of the congress: : In my opinion the congress was excellent; I met various scientists in the field of microbiology from different countries al l over the world. Some of them were distinguishing scientist in professor level. We exchange our knowledge and experience and I learned a great lot from them. It was a great opportunity to introduce the level of science in my country. Although most scientist from Asia were the aware the progress of science in Iran, but some scientist from Europe were really surprised, and this was a great feeling for me. Although they are benefiting from our research and experience, I also learned a lot from them.
