Title of your Abstract : Grid therapy: impact of radiobiological models on calculation of therapeutic ratio
Destination Country : Canada
From : Saturday, June 6, 2015
To : Friday, June 12, 2015
Abstract(Please copy/paste the abstract send to the congress) : Abstract— The purpose of this study is evaluation of the impact of radiobiological models in therapeutic ratio (TR) calculation of spatially fractionated (Grid) radiotherapy for different tumor cells. A Monte Carlo technique was employed to calculate the dose distributions of a Grid collimator in a 6 MV beam. The linear-quadratic (LQ) and modified linear quadratic (MLQ) models were used separately to evaluate the therapeutic ratio for different tumor cells (Melanoma, Squam-ous cell carcinoma (SCC), Adenocarcinoma and Sarcoma). Different maximum dose sizes (10 Gy, 15 Gy and 20 Gy) are considered. For each dose the equivalent uniform dose (EUD) is obtained. The EUDs and TRs for all different doses were derived through the LQ and MLQ models. Calculated thera-peutic ratios from two models were compared.
The results of TRs calculations from both LQ and MLQ have less than 5% difference. EUDs were varied between 2.19 Gy and 3.87 Gy. The TR was dependent on the prescribed dose, cell survival fraction at 2Gy dose (SF2) and radiobiologi-cal model parameters.

Delegates from which countries presented in the congress? : US, Canada, Germany, Iran, Netherland, ......
Were the delegates of any other organizations present in the congress? : Yes
If yes, please write the names of the organizations in the box : WHO,IOMP,AAPM
What were the responses to your talking points? Were specific questions or concerns raised? : The collaboration issue has been opend between Tehran University of Medical Sciences and some other Universities.
Scientific collaboration between Tehran University and University of Toronto must be followed. They are very interesting to have these collaboration between centers. we need some technology transfer to promote our treatment techniques and move to new radiotherapy techniques. For these reason we need these collaborations. When They found what we are working and doing inspite of our lack equipments, were interested to have collaboration for three D dosimetry verifications and so on.
In other aspect like Grid Radiorherapy also they were interested to our clinical results and findings.
And The third topics which was about producing Iodine Brachy source in iran Amazed them. Iran is the First country in the region which producing Iodine source. In other aspect like Grid Radiorherapy also they were interested to our clinical results and findings.

Your experiences about the travel processes(Providing ticket, accommodation,...) : Embassy Problems......
Please give a briefing of your own observations and outcomes of the congress: : Radiotherapy is a multidisciplinary specialty which uses complex equipment and radiation sources for the delivery of treatment. It is estimated
that approximately 3300 teletherapy machines are currently installed in developing countries. This figure is sign
ificantly below the estimated needs, of
almost 5000 machines at present and about 10 000 machines by the year 2015.
Taking this into account, in addition to the great need for qualified
professionals (radiation oncologists, medical radiotherapy physicists, radiotherapy technicians, radiation protection officers, maintenance engineers, etc.), the future development of the medical infrastructure for cancer treatment
appears to be a substantial undertaking.

In the radiotherapy fields we need new technologies. we are in the early stage of radiotherapy techniques!!!!!
