Information of Congress
Title of the Congress : Occupational health and safety
Title of your Abstract : Evaluation of biomimetic nanocomposite scaffold using mesenchymal stem cell derived osteoblast-like cells
Destination Country : Canada
From : Saturday, August 22, 2015
To : Thursday, August 27, 2015
Abstract(Please copy/paste the abstract send to the congress) : Objective: A biomimetic nanocomposite scaffolds based on GEL/calcium phosphate were fabricated and behavior of differentiated osteoblast cells was evaluated after seeding on this scaffold.
Methods: Porous GEL/ calcium phosphate nanocomposites were fabricated by gelatin in deionized water 10% (w/v). Disodium hydroxide phosphate (1 M) and calcium chloride (0.6 M) were prepared and the pH of both solutions was brought to about 7.4 using Tris and HCl. In the next step, the GEL–calcium containing solution was poured into a cylindrical mold and kept at 4◦C for 2 h until physical gelation occurred. Afterward, gel was extracted and soaked into the phosphate containing solution and incubated at 4◦for about 48 h. Following diffusion of ions into the gel, a white precipitate formed within the gel in a gradient manner from the border to the center of gel. The resulting nanocomposite was extracted and freeze dried to create a porous structure through solvent sublimation. Scaffolds were incubated in a 1% glutaraldehyde (GA) solution for 24 h. To achieve a fine powder from fabricated scaffolds for some of the characterization methods, the samples were chopped and milled. Prepared scaffolds were assessed in terms of attachment, alkaline phosphatase activity, gene expression and proliferation of osteoblast cells.
Result: The matrix mineralization was approved by alizarin red and the treated cultures with osteogenic media and BMP2 were positive for osteopontin and osteocalcin antibodies. RT-PCR confirmed presence of osteopontin, osteonectin andalkaline phosphatase mRNA after differentiation in EnSCs-derived osteoblast-like cells.
Conclusion: It has been shown that the biomimetic nanocomposites possess appropriate chemical and physical properties to support the attachment and proliferation of differentiated osteoblast cells.

The Congress Reporting Form
How many volunteers were present at the Congress? : About 100
Delegates from which countries presented in the congress? : USA, Canada, China, UK, Australia, Japan, France, Italia,...
more than 25 country
Were the delegates of any other organizations present in the congress? : Yes
If yes, please write the names of the organizations in the box : See above
What were the responses to your talking points? Were specific questions or concerns raised? :
I got some questions about the progress of growing stem cell research and tissue engineering field. They were interested in finding out about the research is going on in Iran. They were interested in knowing research about bone, cartilage and cardiac tissue Engineering.
If you met staff members, please list their full names & positions. : Dr Bilal Munir, Full prof in King Edward Medical Uni, Pakistan
Dr Ilise Feitshans, Full prof in Uni of Lausanne, USA
Please inform us if there are any follow up actions we need to talk with the members of the congress :
They were interested in taking part in the tissue engineering congress that would be hold in Iran. So, it would be great to support them to come here. How we are going to advertise our congress and the facility they can use to come here are important. Also, while they are here to attend the conference they can run the workshop or teach to our student. The other important issue is preparing invitation letter and visa.
Your experiences about the travel processes(Providing ticket, accommodation,...) : Unfortunatly, I lost my passport. I advice collegues to be very carefull eith their passport.
Please give a briefing of your own observations and outcomes of the congress: : The participants in this conference were from different background which made this conference very valuable. I learnt that establishing spin-off companies are very important and we also need to provide a platform to our academics to come forward and think about products. Only publishing papers is not enough and we need to focus on making product that would be helpful in health. I believe organizing conferences is a good war to introduce our self to the world. We have a lot to say in the field of science and we would be able to show our abilities via congress.
