Information of Congress
Title of the Congress : International symposium of morphological sciences
Title of your Abstract : Decreased Efferents of Mesencephalic Raphe Nuclei to Striatum in Animal Model of Streptozocin-Induced Diabetes
Destination Country : Turkey
From : Wednesday, September 2, 2015
To : Sunday, September 6, 2015
Abstract(Please copy/paste the abstract send to the congress) : raphe nuclei to striatum is important, and reduction of these projections can play a negative role in regulatory connection between them.

Objectives: The main objective of this study was to determine the effects of diabetes on projections of mesencephalic raphe nuclei to striatum of rats.

Materials and Methods: Forty eight male adult Wistar rats were divided into four groups (1.control, 2. two-month diabetic rats, 3. four-month diabetic rats and 4. six-month diabetic rats). HRP was injected into the dorsal and ventral striatum separately and after perfusion with normal saline, fixation, and postfix solutions, the brains were sectioned coronaly (40 µm). Frozen sections were reacted with TMB and counterstained with 1% neutral red.

Results: This study showed reduction of labeled neurons in both mesencephalic raphe nuclei following induction of diabetes. After injection of HRP to ventral striatum this reduction was prominent in DR nucleus in comparison to median raphe projections to ventral striatum affected by diabetes more than that of those to dorsal striatum.

Conclusions: Diabetes mellitus decreases the projections of mesencephalic raphe nuclei to striatum.

The Congress Reporting Form
How many volunteers were present at the Congress? : about 400
Delegates from which countries presented in the congress? : Iran, China, Japan, Germany, Switzerland, USA, Nigeria, Chile, Brazil, Sweden, ect
Were the delegates of any other organizations present in the congress? : Yes
If yes, please write the names of the organizations in the box : World Federation for Medical Education
What were the responses to your talking points? Were specific questions or concerns raised? : No problem was arrised because of speaking in their language, Turkish. In the first day of congress, their recipient members were completed out registration kindly. The president of symposium Prof. Dr. Erdogan Sendemir was so patient in answering our question about the congress programs and solved our problems patiently.
If you met staff members, please list their full names & positions. : Prof. Dr. Erdogan Sendemir, Co-President
Prof. Dr. George PAXINOS (Sydney,Australia)
Dr. Stefano GEUNA (Torino – Italy)
Prof. Dr.Hong-Quan ZHANG (Beijing - China)
Dr. Tomas HÖKFELT (Stockholm – Sweden)
Please inform us if there are any follow up actions we need to talk with the members of the congress : We can be in contact for the next anatomy congress on 2019 in Istanbul, supported by World Federation for Medical Education. In addition, we can participate in some coordinated researches with their academic members who conducted the congress. They were so hopeful for more communications and International agreements between two universities for research opportunity.
Your experiences about the travel processes(Providing ticket, accommodation,...) : We solved this problem by team working. It was my first experience for presenting in a foreign country for taking part in an International congress.
Please give a briefing of your own observations and outcomes of the congress: : It was so great for me to meet Prof. Dr. Paxinos, well known scientist from Australia and some members of World Federation for Medical Education such as Pro. Dr. Spromunt from Switzerland. In addition, it was wonderful for me to visit von Hagen co members as a first cadaver plastination inventor in the world. New techniques for preserving and caring the cadavers demonstrated in the inhibition of the congress was amazing and can be carried out at TUMS, according to its cadaver donations.
In addition, taking part can be useful for design new researched based on the studies were presented in such related congresses.
