Abstract:
Background: One of the most important issues in medical sciences is wound healing and repair. Application of natural ingredients and herbs for treating ulcers has been in the history of human life. Aloe Vera is a medicinal plant used to treat various skin diseases. The effects of using Aloe Vera gel on the healing process were investigated by microscopic methods, cell counting, and TGF-ß gene expression in the wound bed.
Aim: In this study we evaluated, effects of aloe vera gel on the Diabetic wound healing through the microscopic techniques and cell counting.
Methods: In this experimental study, Diabetes was induced through intraperitoneally injection of Streptozocin (STZ). sixty 60 Wistar rats weighing 200-250 grams were placed under general anesthesia in sterile conditions. A square 1.5*1.5 wound was made on the back of the neck. The rats were divided into control and two experimental groups. Additionally, the control and experimental groups were separated into three subgroups corresponding to 4, 7, and 14 days of study. In 1st experimental group, Aloe Vera was used twice on the wound. The 2nd experimental group received Aloe Vera overtreatment once on the wound. The positive control group daily application of 1% phenytoein cream following surgical wound creation. The control group did not receive any treatment. For histological studies, samples were taken from the wound and adjacent skin. This tissue was examined using histological staining (H&E) and Masson’s Trichrome. Wound surface and wound healing were evaluated separately. TGF-ß gene expression was analyzed by RT-PCR.

Results: The macroscopic and microscopic evaluation showed that wound healing increased because the fibroblast numbers in two experimental groups improved compared with control group. The percentage of wound healing on different days in the experimental and control groups were significant. Data were analyzed by using one-way ANOVA test and P< 0.05 was significant.
Discussion: Present study showed that the twice application of topical aloe vera mucilage can result in rapid wound healing in rats. Application of Aloe Vera gel will increase TGF-ß gene expression, ultimately accelerating the wound healing process.

The Congress Reporting Form
How many volunteers were present at the Congress? : 1300 persons
Delegates from which countries presented in the congress? : There were speakers from Germany, Austria, Canada, Australia, United Kingdom, India, Japan, Iran, Syria, USA, China, The Netherlands, Iran.
Were the delegates of any other organizations present in the congress? : Yes
If yes, please write the names of the organizations in the box : The related pharmaceutical Companies
What were the responses to your talking points? Were specific questions or concerns raised? : I was invited to this congress as a speaker. The organizing committee and executive committee
The specific questions has been raised based on field of wound healing in diabetes, from clinicians and physicians to educators, public health specialists, epidemiologists.I also explain about pharmacognosy and herbal medicine in Iran and its challenges.
If you met staff members, please list their full names & positions. : Yes . I have met some lecturer and educators, Prof. Shaukat Sadikot The University of Canad- Professor of Pharmacy
Please inform us if there are any follow up actions we need to talk with the members of the congress : The conference aims to explore wound healing in diabetes, pharmacology, its relation with pharmaceutical sciences and application in the development of healthcare products.
Through sharing and networking, congress will provide an opportunity for researchers, practitioners and educators to exchange research evidence, practical experiences and innovative ideas on issues related to pharmacology and medical sciences.
Your experiences about the travel processes(Providing ticket, accommodation,...) : It was good. Was not a problem,Because we had to use the travel tour.In this process , I had not any problem for visa processing , however cost of direct flight and accommodation was so high and it is not match with the allocated fund .
Please give a briefing of your own observations and outcomes of the congress: : The scientific programme provided the latest developments in diabetes clinical practice, management, education, prevalence and public health issues. One of my favorite sections which was well attended was a workshop on Research Grant proposal writing and guide to review and edit manuscripts for journal. This workshop was in a panel format presented by the editorial staff of reputable journals.
