Please give a briefing of your own observations and outcomes of the congress : |
European Headache Federation Congress (EHF) was held in one of European countries annually. This year it was held in Florence, during 27-30 September and I believe it was more productive and inclusive than past years. Programs were conducted simultaneously in 2 separate halls on various subjects. Basic topics including pathophysiology of different types of headache, genetics of headache and headache biochemistry were discussed in the first hall and latest clinical topics on diagnosis and treatment of headaches were also discussed in the other hall. Lecturers were mainly leading headache specialist field from European countries and some prominent experts from the United States of America. Young scientists presented their researches in a side room and they were delighted to have been given this opportunity. Posters were presented in the side halls in the form of E-poster and Poster Walks were presented in a defined room. One of the strength of congress was the presentation of published guidelines about diagnosis and treatment of headache. On the last session of congress, young researchers who had participated in European schools of headache in previous years and had published presentation of school in the form of future articles were given certification and access to all of the published books of headache around the world as a gift. In my opinion treatment of chronic cluster headache and updates on treatments of chronic and episodic migraine headache were the highlights of topics in this congress. I had negotiation about cooperation in research projects and scientific interchanges with professor Olesen and Professor Jensen of Denmark, Professor Martelletti, president of European Headache Federation, and Professor Steiner, chief of headache field in GBD on the sidelines of congress. I also had conversation on admission of 2 residents and young associate workers in fellowship and PhD courses with Professor Sinclair from England and other professors and some agreements were obtaind. |
