The School of Public Health in Tehran University of Medical Sciences is the oldest and the largest faculty of health in the Middle East. Epidemiology and Biostatistics programs of this faculty are among the oldest and most influential of all the groups. During the last 50 years prominent professors have been teaching in these two programs and have educated knowledgeable students whom have been influential in the country, region and international scale.
Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics
Epidemiology and Biostatistics are two of the important programs of the School of Public Health and Medical Sciences. Their being offered at the same time is an added benefit as they would enhance each other and thus would become more synergistic. This faculty is admitting M.Sc. and Ph.D. students in the Epidemiology and Biostatistics. At the present the faculty has about 85 Ph.D. students and 80 M.Sc. students in these two majors.
Epidemiology and Biostatistics groups backed by experience, outstanding faculty members and talented students have served in 3 major missions: conducting immense educational-research projects, responding to public health issues and being a regional authority in the two fields. Other than producing professionals who are knowledgeable and committed professionals in these two majors, the faculty has taken on national and regional duties and conducts huge national projects ordered by national and international bodies especially the ministry of health and medical education.
