Program Description
IDEE (Iranisch-Deutsches Epidemiologie Engagement) is a German-Iranian initiative to strengthen international cooperation in Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP) and public health. In line with this initiative, a three-week summer school at the School of Public Health of Tehran University of Medical Science (TUMS) will be conducted with faculty members of both TUMS and three German institutes, namely Bernhard Nocht Institute for Tropical Medicine, the University Clinics Hamburg-Eppendorf, and the University of Applied Sciences, Hamburg).

Program Objectives

To provide basic understanding and training regarding control of infectious diseases and prevention with the aim of responding to emerging and current public health threats;

To intensify and sustain international cooperation and networking capacity in the fields of epidemiology, microbiology, public health, and outbreak investigation;

To provide a better understanding for study designs in epidemiological research.

To provide a field work to implement training materials regarding infectious disease surveillance and prevention in a simulated situation
Method of Instruction

45 hours of lectures and seminars

15 hours of participant activity driven sessions (such as concept development or presentation through participants)

Tuition Fee |
The tuition fee of €300 is required upon acceptance.
The course fee includes the registration fee and course materials.
The fee does not include accommodation, travel costs, transfer cost, dining, insurance and other costs. |

The applicants should be familiar with epidemiology and biostatistics principles and techniques.
Eligibility
Work experience of at least 2 years in the field of Public Health
Good English language skills( Reading, Writing, Speaking, Listening)

Visa Application
TUMS will assist you in obtaining your visa after you are admitted. All international students are required to obtain a student visa from the Iranian Consulate/Embassy in their home country before departing for Iran. After we receive your completed Visa Application Form (VAF), at least 6 to 8 weeks should be allowed for the completion of the visa application. Student will enter Iran with a one-month visa. After visiting their school and familiarizing themselves with the schedule and surroundings, students will be accompanied to the Iranian Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology in order to extend their student visa (if necessary).
