Controversies in Rheumatology and Autoimmunity which was launched in Budapest was a well organised international congress. I recommend you to contact them in order to arrange an international congress in Iran or doing some research together. It could be a good opportunity for both of us to work together. Chairperson professor Szekanecz elaborates on the growing connection between Hungary and cutting edge rheumatology research: “We have built numerous collaborations within and outside Europe. Hungarian young investigators spend months in foreign labs and we try to meet as many of the criteria for being a center of excellence as possible.” |

This congress was held in Budapest.
Budapest is the capital of Hungary. As the largest city of Hungary, It is the country's principal political, cultural, commercial, industrial, and transportation center.
The name "Budapest" is a composite of the city names "Buda" and "Pest" since they were united (together with Óbuda) to become a single city in 1873.
Budapest is bisected by the River Danube. The city is as much a natural geographical center as it is the country’s transport hub. Budapest possesses a rich and fascinating history, as well as a vibrant cultural heritage. Recognizing the unique value of its traditions, it has managed to maintain its magic and charm, and is known as the "Queen of the Danube".
In April, 2013 an interesting project called Controversies in Rheumatology and Autoimmunity (CORA) was launched in Budapest. It was a great success with more than 700 participants. A fresh and intuitive congress structure was launched that included debate sessions on burning but controversial issues, plenary lectures, company-sponsored blocks and other scientific sessions including presentations of submitted abstracts.
CORA 2013 covered issues related to the clinical diagnosis and management, as well as the pathogenesis of rheumatic and autoimmune disorders. It has been conducted debates on the importance of genetic vs. epigenetic factors, on the involvement of bone destruction vs. formation in the pathogenesis of arthritides, on burning issues of targeted therapy including early treatment initiation, switching and stopping. Highly controversial issues of gout, lupus, inflammatory myositis and scleroderma was also covered. A disscution bout whether atherosclerosis is an autoimmune disease or not and what to use and what not in osteoporosis and osteoarthritis treatment was discussed too.
It was a good opportunity for me to take part in this international congress. |
