India Abstract: In India, there are more than 50,000 large, medium, and small scale electroplating units mostly scattered in urban areas and there are about 79 electroplating industries located in Karnataka state, out of which 71 industries are in and around Bangalore city only. The water consumption is less in electroplating industries compared to other industries, and the effluent is more toxic than other wastes. These industries produce toxic hazardous waste containing heavy metals approximately 78,000kg/annum which adversely effect environment, especially humans, animals, plants, and aquatic life. This paper compared the abilities varies of low- cost natural products for removal heavy metals from electroplating wastewater, the use of agricultural products and by –products has been widely investigated as a replacement for current costly methods of removing heavy metals from water and wastewater .Some of the agricultural materials can be effectively used as a low –cost sorbent .Modification of agricultural by-product could enhance their natural capacity and add value to the by-product. In this review, an extensive list of sorbent literature has been complied to provide a summary of available information on a wide range of low-cost agricultural product and by-product sorbent and their modification for removing heavy metals from electroplating wastewater.

To this end, the meeting aims to attract participants with different backgrounds, to foster crosspollination between different research fields, and to expose and discuss innovative theories, framewors,methodologies,tools and applications for sustainable development. All contrbution should be of high quality ,original and not published elsewhere or submitted for publication.
