1.Brief summary of Leave : confocal microscopy is a new device with a valuable capacity for diagnosis of eye problems.the subject of this leave was to learn more about this system in harvard university both in operation and image interpretation . I could attend the operating room and clinic of my supervisor successfully to exercise the operation and image interpretaion in junction with patients problems.
2.List the objectives of your sabbatical leave as listed in your proposal and indicate how completely they were met : 1:confocal microscopy operation.
2: confocal images interpretation
3: corneal nervous plexus damage in terms of confocal image
4: eye discomfort and tear film disfunction in terms of confocal images

All above objects were completely met in sabbatical leave.
3.Acheivements(Publications,research,et.al.) : we defined some subjects for research coopration.
4.Assessment of Value of Sabbatical leave(benefits, faculty development, future professional activities,...) : Introduction of confocal microscopy to ophthalmology was a great chance for a non invasive diagnostic procedure to be used in retina as well as cornea and conjunctiva and even adnexa. It is a microscope with about one microne resolution in with both elumination system and viewing system have the same focal point. We can diagnose the abnormalities and micro organisems in the live tissue just by taking some images in a fraction of minutes with could be very helpfull in terms of sooner and better management.Farabi hospital as the biggest eye hospital in the area and main refferal centre of the country needed to have such a system to help in both teaching and treatment affairs. It was a good opportunity for me to be resposible for funding and running this centre in our hospital. That is what i did.In order to be familiar with centers with more experience in this field the centre decided to give me a sabbatical leave in Harvard university. The main aims were concentration in both operation and image interpretation.I started to work in operating unit in harvard university to take the images from patients and then interpretation of them in the supervisor clinical setting in relation wth patients problems.Overally the assessment of the leave could be listed as:
Having an imaging centre with a qualified director being familiar with performance and interpretation ability of one of the most experienced centre in the wourld. Now i can run the system more professionally and helping the diagnostic process more confidently by more skillfull operation and reporting. In addition i can bring the system more effectively in research area by providing easy acess of patients and academic staff to what i have learned in this leave.Having the active confocal service will help to prevent sending the patients to be sent to other centre for further diagnostic procedures with wasting time and energy.

Familiarity with other colligues and their approach to diagnosis and therapy and exchange of medical experience and having cooperation with scientific research could be regarded as other benifit of the leave.
