A French Delegation from HCERES and AP-HP Visited TUMS.

On November 1, 2015 Prof. Didier Houssin, President of the French Evaluation Agency for Research and Higher Education (HCERES) and Medical Advisor at Assistance Publique–Hôpitaux de Paris (AP-HP), Pierre-André Lhôte, Attaché of Scientific and Technical Cooperation of French Embassy in Iran, and Mr. Jean-michel Péry, an AP-HP Hospital Manager, Visited TUMS School of Dentistry, TUMS Core Facilities and Tehran Heart Center.

 

In their first visit, Prof. Houssin, Mr. Péry and Mr. Lhôte visited Tehran Heart Center (THC). In this visit, Dr. Hajighasemi, Dean of Executive Affairs of THC briefly introduced the center. THC hosts 20 thousands patients every year, he added.

Dr. Abbasi, Editor-in-chief of The Journal of Heart Center, explained about many international collaborations this center has with European countries. He also mentioned that THC is fostering cooperation with Canada and USA as well.

Prof. Houssin pointed out that the aim of this visit is to evaluate the potentials and facilities of the TUMS and its affiliated centers and hospitals. He also said that there are similarities in the TUMS hospitals and AP-HP hospitals which can provide a basis for cooperation. Ministry of Social Affairs and Health of France has a program for rare diseases such as certain genetic diseases and is ready to receive and welcome TUMS students and staff in these programs, he added. Prof. Houssin provided his excellent suggestions regarding the collaboration with TUMS in the field of joint clinical cresearch programs. Then, they visited THC Laboratory and CCU ward.

Later on, Prof. Houssin Mr. Péry and Mr. Lhôte met with the Dean and Vice-Dean for International Affairs of School of Dentistry.

Dr. Bayat, De an of School of Dentistry introduced the school and Dr. Khami, Vice-Dean for International Affairs of the school provided the guests with complementary explanations.

They visited several wards at the school and engaged in friendly talks with the International students of the school. Finally both parties came to an agreement for future collaborations.

Lastly the delegation visited TUMS Core Facilities Laboratory and School of Advanced Technologies in Medicine.

During these visits the Chancellor of Higher Evaluation and Research Council of France, expressed his willingness toward collaboration with TUMS in these fields and also helping TUMS for finding international accreditation bodies.

He also added that exchange of research samples would be a good area for future cooperation. 

At the end of their visit, Prof. Hussin and others visited TCF and talked with the staff and students.
