A Meeting on studying the feasibility of receiving Programmatic Accreditation for Bachelor of Science in Nursing by an American Accreditation body, “Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN)”

A meeting on studying the feasibility of implementing programmatic accreditation for bachelor of science in nursing was held at the Secretariat of International Quality Assurance and Accreditation Network of Tehran University of Medical Sciences.

Based on the report of the directorate of International Relations, Accreditation and Ranking of Tehran University of Medical Sciences, this meeting was held with the presence of Dr. Nikbakht Vice-Dean of International Affairs of School of Nursing and Midwifery, Dr. Pourtaghi a faculty member of this school,  Dr. Nekoofar the Director of International Relations, Accreditation and Ranking, Tania Azadi and Mahboobeh Davoodifar accreditation officers of the Secretariat of Quality Assurance and Accreditation Network (IQAAN) on August 23rd,2016 and focused on the implementation of the programmatic accreditation for the nursing education.

 

In this meeting, Dr. Nekoofar explained the advantages of programmatic accreditation such as standardization of nursing curriculum, modifying new courses in accordance with global standards and the impact of these factors on internationalization of the university.

Afterwards, with giving some information about Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), he introduced this accreditation body and clarified the reasons why this accreditation body has been chosen.

 

Dr. Nikbakht also announced that School of Nursing and Midwifery is much eager to implement programmatic accreditation and added that this can be a mutual project for the intended school and office of vice-chancellor for Global Strategies and International Affairs.

 

Ms. Azadi went on giving information about the history, vision and mission of this accreditation body and gave this information along with the indicators of this accreditation body to the members of the School of Nursing and Midwifery to be discussed with other faculty members and decided.

 

Upon the acceptance of the School of Nursing and Midwifery to implement programmatic accreditation, IQAAN will contact ACEN and the cooperation of the School of Nursing and Midwifery and IQAAN will commence officially.
