According to the public relations of Vice-chancellor office for International Affairs, Dr. Kheradmand, Vice-Chancellor for Global Strategies & International Affairs, Mr. Nadi, Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ International and Exchange Students, Universities and Schools Abroad, Dr. Nekoofar, Director of International Relations, Accreditation & Ranking, Dr. Mirzazadeh and Dr. Gandomkar, representatives of Educational Affairs office in international accreditation, Dr. Sadeghi, representative of Student Affairs office in international accreditation, Dr. Shamshiri and Dr. Saberi Namin, representatives of Research and Technology Affairs office in international accreditation, Dr. Amanlou and Ms. Kashian, representatives of Management Development & Resource Planning office in international accreditation, Mr. Sayyadi, Ms. Azadi and Ms. Javedanfard, the International experts of Vice-chancellor Office for International Affairs were all present in this meeting.
At the beginning of this meeting, Dr. Kheradmand as an introduction to Mr. Nadi mentioned the university accreditation activities and said: Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) is accredited by Accreditation Services for International Colleges (ASIC) for the first time in February 2013. This certificate after expert evaluation has renewed by ASIC in April 2017 and TUMS in addition to its accreditation activities, is currently advising 13 medical and non-medical universities of the country to help them run the international accreditation”, he added. Providing these consultations, after TUMS and Iran University of Medical Sciences, Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences has also obtained accreditation by ASIC in April 2017, he continued.
Introducing the attendees of the meeting, Dr. Nekoofar described the program of the three-day International Conference of ASIC. He stated: “ASIC will host the conference in September 2017, in recognition of a decade of its activities.” He added: “The conference will focus on issues such as accreditation and quality assurance, developments in higher education, international marketing, and working with the international student recruitment agents.”
Dr. Nekoofar also announced that a 20-minute speech by one of the university representatives regarding the experiences of the TUMS in the internationalization of higher education will be presented at this conference. He recalled that ASIC has accredited more than 900 institutions in 50 countries within 10 years of its activity.
Dr. Kheradmand in the next part of his speech, referring to the presence of representatives of the university at ASIC International Conference, stated: "These representatives will attend this gathering as ambassadors of medical higher education in Iran”. He also outlined the expectations of them at the ASIC International Conference.
At the end of the meeting, the attendees stated their viewpoints and emphasized on introducing the unique features of tourism in Iran along with introducing the system of higher education in the country.
