Tehran University of Medical Sciences as the first internationally accredited medical university could receive the international accreditation certificate from ASIC in May, 2013. Then, various departments including education, research, management development and resource planning and students’ affairs with their ongoing collaborations with international department found the strengths and weak points of the university in different areas to improve them through each department and in all university as well. This has made fundamental and significant changes for the quality of the university.
Next, due to importance of receiving international accreditation along with international standards and improving education and quality of services to students in higher education level, the Ministry of Health and Medical Education emphasized on receiving international accreditation certificate for medical universities.
Finally, TUMS was re-accredited by ASIC inspectors’ team and again received premier accreditation on July, 2017 for its second time. So far, the process has had positive considerable impacts on quality of services in universities and the country’s higher education has been increasingly internationalized.
