Department of Physiology

 

The Department of Physiology was founded in 1934 and was one of the three departments which were established at the time of the establishment of the School of Medicine. Thus, this department is now more than 80 years old. Located on the first floor of building Number 7, this department has 11 academic staff, 6 laboratory personnel, and 4 administrative staff.

 

The Department of Physiology has the responsibility of teaching physiology to students of medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, hygiene, rehabilitation, paramedics, and nursing & midwifery. It is also active in educating M.Sc. and Ph.D. students. The department also has an animal house which breeds and provides lab animals. The active setups in the department are as following: kidney physiology and pathophysiology, addiction, cardio Vascular, isolated organs, the respiratory system, memory and behavior, reproduction, gastrointestinal, the nervous system and the endocrine.
